Medicinal Chemistry

Although lots of biological drugs have emerged in the clinical market, chemical drugs are still taking center stages of the clinical uses and recent drug discovery programs. The KIM lab has focused on the development of novel and innovative chemical drug candidates, based on chemical library and rational design. In order to successfully achieve the goal, we are trying to synthesize the natural product-like compounds for the construction of chemical library equipped with the privileged structures. And we design and synthesize diverse small molecules via molecular modeling of compound-protein interaction which are demonstrated by Autodock and related programs.
Our recent interests in the field of medicinal chemistry are discovery of the several kinase (p38 MAPK and TPL2) inhibitors for chronic inflammatory diseases. We are also interested in the development of anti-viral agents and anti-alzheimer agents which are able to selectively modulate the novel targets.
